While it still may be spring in Montreal, summer is right around the corner, and with warmer temps comes a few holiday adventures.

Google rounded up the top summer travel destinations of 2024, and it turns out Canadians are flocking to several hotspots this summer. However, many travellers are also set on touching down in Canada this upcoming summer season.

According to Google Flights, the number one destinations Canadians are looking at this summer are Paris, London, Lisbon, Japan and Rome. As for Canadians looking for some tropical heat, Cancun, Punta Cana, San Jose (Costa Rica), São Paolo and Puerto Vallarta are among the most popular summer destinations.

But what about voyages to Canada?

Google ranked the top five Canadian cities that travellers are set to flock to the most this summer and Montreal did, in fact, make the cut.

Montreal was ranked fifth overall, landing at the bottom of the list.

So, which other Canadian cities beat us? Turns out many travellers are eyeing Canada's west coast.

Both Vancouver and Calgary snagged the top two spots with Toronto and Halifax following suit. Despite being the best foodie city in North America and hosting non-stop festivals this summer, more people are focusing on spots like Calgary and Halifax over Montreal, which is questionable... but who are we to challenge Google data?

As for Canadians jet-setting to the U.S. this summer, Google Flights also highlighted the top American destinations. New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando and Miami are the cities to be in.

Furthermore, Google also found that more and more Canadians are opting for solo travel and compiled a list of top spots solo Canadians are set to visit most this summer, which include Vienna, Machu Picchu, Brussels, Vietnam and Costa Rica.

Happy travels, Montreal.
