Montreal was just ranked among the best cities in Canada — Here's who beat us

When it comes to Montreal's food, festivals and free things to do the scene, there's no denying it's easily one of the best cities in Canada and Travel + Leisure readers would agree.

Travel + Leisure, an online travel publication, dropped its World's Best Awards and when it comes to the best cities in Canada, Montreal managed to make the cut.

To compile the list, Travel + Leisure asked its readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe and share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more.

Over 186,000 readers completed the 2024 survey and a total of 700,000+ votes were cast across over 8,700 properties. For the best cities ranking, Travel + Leisure used a few criteria to score some of Canada's most popular spots including sights/landmarks, culture, food, friendliness, shopping and value.

So, how did Montreal do?

Montreal ranked third overall, receiving a total score of 83.01 Considering our endless choice of restaurants, summer festivities and events and a vibe that can't be found anywhere else across Canada, it's truly no surprise that Montreal is among the best spots across the country.

Victoria was the only other city to surpass Montreal on the ranking, but the 514 simply cannot compete with ocean views, mountainside landmarks and impressive wildlife.
