This destination was just named one of Travel + Leisure's 15 Best Islands in the Continental U.S. as part of their World's Best Awards 2024.

The islands were voted for by readers and rated based on criteria including natural attractions, beaches, sights, restaurants and friendliness.

Mackinac Island, located on the sparkling waters of Lake Huron in Michigan, came in at number three on the list for the best islands in the Continental U.S. with a reader score of 86.73.

The majestic destination near Ontario is known for being car-free and you can get around by bicycle, horse-drawn carriage or on foot.
