Who is eligible to receive the Canada Child Benefit?
To be eligible for the Canada Child Benefit, you must meet the following criteria:
- Live with a child under 18 and be primarily responsible for their care.
- Be a resident of Canada for tax purposes, with Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, protected status, or other specified qualifications.
- Not receive CCB for a foster child when Children's Special Allowances (CSA) are payable.
- Be an individual who is registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act.

How much $ can you receive from the Canada Child Benefit?
Per the CRA, if your adjusted family net income is under $36,502, you can get the maximum amount for each child and it will not be reduced.
In this case, you can receive the following for each child:
- $7,787 per year ($648.91 per month) for children under six years of age*
- $6,570 per year ($547.50 per month) for children six to 17 years of age
